Alone in small garden, young Sarx, the corn plant, is warned that he should keep any weeds from growing too close. With the gardener on vacation, he anxiously tries to safeguard his surroundings. However, when a tiny thorn appears one day and boasts of her friendly intentions to help, Sarx decides to let her stay. Will she protect him with her prickles and bring water to his roots when the ground gets dry?

This story is based on the Parable of the Sower that Jesus taught his disciples. Of all the types of ground Jesus spoke about in that parable, the ground that grew thorns and weeds is most like our day and age because he said the thorns represented the cares of this life and the deceitfulness of riches! Sounds like the 21st Century Western world!

This book will be great to help teach your young children about the dangers of putting anything ahead of God in their lives. Beautifully illustrated in full colour, it is sure to become a family favourite.
